This week there is a new release from us out. It´s the Kne´Deep number 34, called Body Midification.
We are very happy that this record is out, but we tell you all that there is some errors between the track´s names and the actual order that they are cut onto the vinyl.
So here you can check which track is which on the final copy:

Interview for DJ Pluschen - Czech Rep. - Fev.07

1.After one year you are coming back to play in CZ. Do you remember your last visit here? It was in Ostrava at Antistatic party. Are you looking forward to Czech party people?

PET Duo- We are very excited with the chance to come back to Czech Rep. We have been there only twice, but both times were amazing experience and we had lots of fun with the crowd. We can expect only the best from you!

2.You are a married couple, do relationship crises reflect in your gigs? Has it ever happened that you had an argument before a gig and only one of you went to play and the other one stayed stubborn in the hotel room?

PETDuo – As a normal couple , we do fight sometimes, but it never last more than 5 minutes. Also we never missed a gig because of personal problems, we find peace in music. We only missed gigs when we were very ill, which does not happen very often.

3.Why Pet Duo? Is there any deeper meaning to that?

PETDuo – When our friend asked us to play for the first time at a party in Brasil , he suggested us to find a nickname for our project, this way we would not be related with the Brazilian folk music singers...its because, traditionaly, they perfom as duos, singing with acoustic guitars and using their first names, like, Milionário and José Rico, Tonico and Tinoco, Ana and David would sound just the same. So we ended up with this name. First had a very silly meaning but throughout the years we can say that it stands for the domestic animals or the recyclable plastic PET...By the end it´s just a name.

4.Whats new with Pet Duo? Planning to release any breaking record? Or anything special for the April gig in Benesov? Do you prepare your sets in advance or you improvize on stage?

PETDuo – In this year we celebrate 10 years playing together, and to celebrate, we will launch our own label. For the second part of the year we will make a special tour where we will perform ,for the first time ever, our live p.a..

About our sets, we usually prepare ourselves practicing on the decks during the week and make lot´s of research to find new material. By the time of the party we try to stay calm and connect to the people, make something that suits the mood of the moment, have fun and give fun to them.

5.It is a public secret that many known and respected artists release tracks under there names which were actually produced by other, often unknown authors. I suppose this is not your case. Which of you makes your productions, what do you use? Where do you get inspiration?

PETDuo – When we started to release records we made the tracks with other people, as our friend Nori, from Brasil. After a while we became more confident on our skills and start to make by ourselves, but still there are so much to learn and improve. Here , both of us make music, but David operates the computer most of the time. Nowadays we use mainly virtual studio, softwares Cubase SX, Reason 3, Ableton 6, Sound Forge 8 and many vst and vsti plug ins, also we have some gear, like our sampler Akai MPC 2500 and the Korg Electribe ESX, besides some EFX boxes.

6.Do you take pictures with your fans, sign cards with your photos, play in a brand shirt, throw commercial giveaways to people during your sets or you keep your styl and personality? What is your opinion to underground vs. mainstream?

PETDuo – We do take pictures with fans and sign pics for them, but we avoid do this during our set as we need to be concentrated on the music. We don´t think that doing this is something related with mainstream, or comercial behavior. We do this because we are very thankfull for the love and support we receive from the people. It´s the least we can give back for so much strengh we get from them, to keep doing our thing. We hope that by being ourselves we can reach people´s heart. For us, Underground is an attitude , not a place to be, so even if u are very sucessefull and famous, u can always stay underground if you keep your feet on the ground and remember where you came from. It´s dangerous when the artists starts to think that they are bigger than the music.

7.What is the difference between Brazilian and European dance scene? Or specifically Czech dance scene? Do brazillian techno heads also wear crazy fluffy things and teddy bears instead of backpacks?

PETDuo – The main difference is that in Brasil the main Scene is Psy-Trance. This style dominates the whole country, from north to south. There are lots of festivals for this style going on there. Techno is popular mainly in Sao Paulo, where we both come from..About the crazy outfits, we guess this is something special from Czech Rep and Slovenjia, and we love it!

8.Which three words come to your mind when you say Czech dance scene?

PETDuo – Happy Techno Lovers

9.Do you find anything typical about Czech techno scene?

PETDuo – Czech Rep brings to our mind quality Shuffle Beats Techno, party animals and lots of Female Djs, besides the good beer! : )))

Do you have time for your private life?

PET Duo - We have lots of work during the last few months, but we love so much what we are doing, that we cannot complain…also we do not see djing as work, we see it as a way of life, we put so much of ourselves into what we do, that we feel the limits of work and private life blurring on the dancefloor J

Is there somebody that you would be in his place for a day?

David – I would love to be an astronaut, drift into zero gravity, contemplate the stars and then see the earth and the rain falling down on the people on the ground…I would like to do that, for sure!

Ana – I would like to be the co-pilot of that space ship that would bring David to space…we hate to be separated!

Which are your favorite clubs/events, by continent?

PET Duo - We just played in the continents of South America and Europe, and in South America, we like to play at Lov.e Club, in São Paulo, our hometown in Brasil, and in Europe we like to play at M47, of course!

What type of music do you like to play and what kinds of music do you

like to listen?

PET Duo - We like to play Techno, but also we play different styles of music on top of our Techno sets. We listen at home to Techno, House, Electro, Minimal, Experimental, Rap, EBM, Rock, Classical music, French Music, Brazilian folk...We listen to so many different stuff, one normal day at home could start with Beethoven in the morning, then some old classic rap like Public Enemy or Beastie Boys to warm up, afterwards we would put on some Motorhead heavy metal, then we would listen to some Electro from Detroit, after, we would practice on the decks with some Techno, and then, before we sleep, Love Me tender, from Elvis, is a good invitation for some romance…we love music!

Do you have civil job?

PET Duo - We used to have daytime jobs before being fulltime DJs. Ana worked in a record store, with webdesign and audio studio. David worked as the manager of a hairdresser saloon, producer of video publicity, then, later on, video editor.

Who influenced you the most in the music area?

PET Duo - We can name a few artist that are the main inspirations for our music :

DJ Rush, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Jeff Mills, DJ Godfather, Mark EG, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, as DJs and producers.

Now for the artists that just produce music, we can say Ministry, Sepultura, Front 242, french singer Serge Gainsbourg, Nine Inch Nails…but really, too many to name.

Do you play any musical instrument?

PET Duo - No. We do not know how to play any other instrument, besides playing records and producing with computer.

What kinds of future do you forsee to techno?

PET Duo - As technology grows, and as a style that is mainly based on the advance of this technology, We just see the future of Techno as bright as ever, with many influences coming from all other styles, like Electro, Minimal, Rap, Drum´n´Bass.

Which were the most inspiring moments during your career?

PET Duo - When we first came to tour Europe with DJ Rush, back in 2002, was amazing moment, to see how much space and understanding of the electronic music is possible, this blew our minds…also when we played first time at the club were we met and got married, the Hell´s Club, in São Paulo, was a very sentimental moment. When we played the first time at ILoveTechno and at Spanish festival Monegros were very special moments in our lifes. And when we played the first time at M47, in 2003, at the same night that Speedy J played a wonderful 3 hours live pa, was a blast, the club was full of energy, we remember the faces of the crowd, enjoying that moment and smiling all the way, that was such a good feeling!

Did you have bad/funny experiences? If it's not a secret, would you share

the story with us?

PET Duo - Some years ago we played at a party in the interior of Brazil, and the DJ that played after us did something really strange, after every record he played, he used a blowpipe to melt the vinyls and then, would give to the crowd so they could wear it as a hat! After that gig, we never heard about him ever again, maybe he melted all his collection and got out of records to play, uhaahuuaha!!

What motivates you to write music? Is it a hobby or a way to show your

feelings?

PET Duo - We are dominated by this will for doing what we are doing…we cannot explain why, besides our love for it, we see no other reason that is needed to do this…of course, we are happy that people enjoy our work, and that we can get paid for it, but even if people hated it, and we could not live from the music, then we would be doing the same thing we were doing when we started, having daytime jobs, and still keep playing and writing tracks during our free time.

In what way do you relax/recharge when you are tired of gigs, music writing?

PET Duo - We play videogames, watch movies, surf on the net, read books, play with our 4 cats and go out for a walk in the city.

What is your opinion about web shops and illegal downloads?

PET Duo - Web shops are nice, but illegal downloads sucks. Please, give support to the artists!!

What kind of music-software do you use?

PET Duo - We use Cubase, Reason, Ableton Live, Sound Forge, Acid Pro softwares, and Waves , Ultrafunk, Antares, Battery, Absynth, Halion, vst instruments and plug ins. Now we are learning how to make music with gear, we bought the samplers Akai MPC2500 and Korg Electribe ESX1.

PC or MAC?

PET Duo - MAC! Much more stable system, ideal for doing music.

How could you position techno in the map of electronic music"?

PET Duo - Techno is a special force behind electronic music, we see this style not as popular as trance or house music, but the way it is developed, always searching for that sound that we never heard before, always based in a highly danceable 4 by 4 format, it is pretty much important as the origin and influence to other styles, like Trance, Hardcore, House and Rap. So in the map of electronic music, we would position it as number 4, behind Rap, Trance, and House, but number one in our hearts and in the minds of the free people!

Can you describe for us what for you the „perfect party" is?

PET Duo - 4 Decks, 2 mixers, a good sound system, a good open crowd and, of course, cold beer!

Club Alter Ego @ Rijeka, Croatia - 23.03.07

Hello party freaks,

Last friday we had the chance to play at Alter Ego Club in Rijeka, lovelly Croatia. We liked alot the club, it is very underground and lots of nice people was there having fun.
We were having fun with our set too but, unfortunatelly we had problems with the monitors. The power of them went off for over one hour and that´s why we had to play on back2back during this time, as we cannot play on 4 decks with no monitoring at all. By the last 40 minutes of our set, the monitors finally went back and we could play again the way we like best. We would like to apologize for any incovenience for the people that was expecting the traditional 4 decks set.
And we would like to thank the croatians, who really gave us the energy to keep on playing , even with the problems we had.
We really love the crowd there and hope to come back soon!

PET Duo 10 years

Hi everyone,

2007 is a very special year for us, because we turn 10 years playing together.
And to celebrate this. throughout the whole year we will have loads of news for those who likes and give support to our music.
First, its our new website that was created and designed by ourselves. Then , the creation of this blog where we can talk more about our music and things that we like.
We are also getting ready to launch our own label, Cause Records, and a special tour " 10 Years After...", where we will be performing live for the first time ever.
Also for this year we are set to release our second compilation, mixed on 4 decks and 2 mixers.

On the News section, in our blog, we will update all the infos about these projects and releases, so check out back again soon.

Olá a todos,

2007 é muito especial para nós, pois comemoraremos 10 anos nos apresentando juntos.
E para celebrar isso , ao longo do ano teremos muitas novidades para aqueles que gostam de nossa música e acompanham nosso trabalho.
A primeira novidade é nosso novo site, que foi inteiro idealizado e produzido por nós. Junto, veio a criação deste blog para que possamos divulgar mais nossa música e falar um pouco sobre outras coisas que nos interessam.
Estamos preparando também o lançamento de nosso selo, o Cause Records, e uma tour especial "Ten Years after..." aonde apresentaremos nosso primeiro live p.a.
E ainda, pra fechar esse ano cheio de projetos, iremos lançar nossa segunda compilação mixada em 4 decks e dois mixers.

Através da sessão News do nosso blog, vamos divulgar todas as informações sobre esses projetos e futuros releases, por isso, volte aqui de tempos em tempos.
